Liberty Healthcare now provides free mental health assessments for children and young adults up to the age of 18 as part of the Youth Empowerment Services (YES) program.

In 2017, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (DHW) selected Liberty to provide a statewide program of independent diagnostic and level of care assessments of youth to determine if they qualify for mental health services. The DHW established the program in response to the “Jeff D. Settlement,” which committed the state to create a statewide process for screening youths with unmet mental health needs and provide a comprehensive array of community-based services and supports.

As of January 1, 2018, families of children with serious emotional disturbances and functional impairments may be eligible for Medicaid coverage if their income is up to 300 percent of the federal poverty limit. Liberty provides the necessary initial assessments at no cost to the family seeking YES program eligibility.
