On April 23, 2021, state and local leaders took part in a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Robert M. Greer Center (Greer Center) of Enid, OK. The Greer Center is a short-term treatment facility for adults who are dually diagnosed with intellectual disabilities and co-occurring mental illness and/or severe behavioral challenges. Liberty of Oklahoma Corporation (Liberty) has managed the program on behalf of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) since 2000.
In 2019, OKDHS confirmed that it had set aside $16 million to replace and renovate aging buildings that are part of the Greer Center facilities. OKDHS expects the new and renovated facilities to be completed in about 18 months, which will allow OKDHS and Liberty to continue serving Greer Center clients in a new and improved treatment setting.
Those noted at the ceremony include Liberty Executive Director Hugh Sage, Sen. Roland Pederson, Rep. Denise Crosswhite Hader, Rep. Chad Caldwell, Lisa Powell with Enid Regional Development Alliance, City of Enid leaders, Oklahoma DHS staff, and representatives from Rick Scott Construction and Mass Architects.
